Jordan on Wednesday summoned the Iranian ambassador in Amman and condemned recent attack on Saudi embassy in Tehran, the state run Petra news agency reported.
Jordan's Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh voiced condemnation and rejection of the recent attack on Saudi embassy in Iran's capital, where protesters stormed the compound after Saudi Arabia executed Nimr al-Nimr, a leading Saudi Shiite cleric who was accused of supporting terrorism.
"This is a stark violation of all norms and international laws," said the minister.
The minister also voiced Jordan's rejection of Iran's interference in Arab affairs and the domestic affairs of Saudi Arabia, urging Iran to respect judicial rulings of the Kingdom.
The minister also voiced support for Saudi Arabia's efforts to combat terrorism.
After the attack on its embassy in Tehran, Saudi Arabia cut off it ties with Iran. Bahrain and Sudan also followed suit, while the United Arab Emirates downgraded diplomatic ties with Tehran.
On Tuesday, Iran's President Hassan Rouhani said Riyadh cannot hide the "crime" of killing a religious cleric by severing diplomatic ties with Tehran.
The Saudi authorities should have not responded to the criticisms of al-Nimr by beheading him, Rouhani said in a meeting with visiting Danish Foreign Minister Kristian Jensen.
The Iranian president stressed that his country is seeking good relations with its neighbors, including Saudi Arabia.
The best way to settle the dispute between the two countries is through political and diplomatic means, he said, adding that the critical situation in the region requires cooperation among the countries against terrorism. Endit
