Indian security forces continue combing operation against gunmen at airbase

Xinhua, January 3, 2016 Adjust font size:

At least two other gunmen are still holed up inside the Indian airbase they attacked on Saturday, while security forces are continuing combing operation inside the base and its surrounding areas, said Indian officials on Sunday.

"There can be more terrorists at Airforce base station in Pathankot," said Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh, a local police chief.

Meanwhile, the death toll from the Indian security forces and air force has risen to seven as four others died of injuries after the attack.

A group of gunmen attacked the Pathankot airbase near the Pakistan border early Saturday, triggering a lingering gunfight with security forces. Five of the attackers were killed in the fight so far. Endit
