The anti-pornography authority in east China's Zhejiang Province deleted 16,223 items deemed pornographic from the Internet from January to October of 2015.

More than 1 million items of lewd content had been blocked, said Huang Baiqing, director of the provincial anti-pornography and anti-illegal publications office.

Authorities shut down 881 websites or pages containing pornography and blocked 1,021 websites that operate outside China during the same period in the province, Huang said, adding that 333 websites had been punished.

China has more Internet users than any other country in the world, with a government agency putting the figure at 650 million in 2015. Endi
