Greece recalls ambassador to Prague in protest of Czech president remarks

The Greek government has recalled the Greek ambassador to Prague in protest of Czech President Milos Zeman's remarks that were deemed an insult to Greece, the Foreign Ministry in Athens announced on Tuesday.

In statements to media last week the Czech leader said that the Czech Republic was ready to join the euro zone on the same day of a Grexit.

It was not the first time that Czech officials have caused disgruntlement in Athens due to controversial comments, raising tensions in the relations of the two countries.

A few days ago the Greek foreign ministry spokesman Konstantinos Koutras noted that "the Czech Republic is an EU member-state thanks to Greece." Endit
