Ukraine, Israel plan to sign free trade deal in 2016

Xinhua, December 23, 2015 Adjust font size:

Ukraine and Israel are planning to sign a free trade agreement (FTA) in the first half of 2016, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said Tuesday.

"We have reached an agreement to speed up the signing of the FTA between Ukraine and Israel, we have agreed that it should happen in the first half of the next year," Poroshenko was quoted as saying by his press service after talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

To pave the way for boosting bilateral trade and cooperation in various sectors, Ukraine and Israel have also agreed to strengthen their air connections, Poroshenko said.

From January through September, the overall trade turnover between Ukraine and Israel fell 13.6 percent year-on-year to 705.6 million U.S. dollars.

The Ukrainian president arrived in Israel earlier on Tuesday for a two-day working visit. Endit
