Albania's inflation to hit 2.3 pct in 2016

Xinhua, December 22, 2015 Adjust font size:

Albania's average inflation rate for 2016 was expected to hit around 2.3 percent, said the Bank of Albania on Monday.

The inflation shows an upward tendency, probably reaching 3 percent in 2018, it added.

However, with negative output gap and low prices persisting in the short run in the world market, their downward pressure on inflation was expected to make up for the effect of food price hike, it said.

Before last weekend, the bank's supervisory committee decided to keep base interest rate unchanged at 1.75 percent, lowest in Albania's history. Endi
