2nd LD: Suicide attack in Bagram, Afghanistan inflicts casualties, Taliban claims responsibility

Xinhua, December 21, 2015 Adjust font size:

A suicide car bomb that rocked U.S. military base in Bagram airbase, 50 km north of Kabul, inflicted casualties on Monday, an official with the U.S. Forces public relation office said.

"I can confirm there are casualties but we are assessing at the moment," the official told Xinhua.

He confirmed it was a "vehicle bomb" that exploded outside Bagram airbase at 01:30 p.m. local time.

Bagram has been serving as a main U.S. military base in Afghanistan over the past 14 years.

Meantime, Zabihullah Mujahid who speaks for the Taliban outfit, in contact with media claimed responsibility for the attack, saying that a suicide bomber named Zahidullah blew himself up next to U.S. military in Bagram district killing and injuring several soldiers.
