Former NBA star Marbury's museum unveiled in downtown Beijing

Former NBA star Stephon Marbury, who steered Beijing to three titles in past four years in Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league, saw his museum unveiled in downtown here on Monday.

   "Today is definitely a historic day," said the two-time NBA All-star on the unveiling ceremony.

   The 300-square-meter area showcases Marbury's all-time photos, from his childhood in Brooklyn, New York to recent years in Beijing, a place he sees as his "second home".

   Marbury, accompanied by his family members, was reminiscent of many impressive moments looking at these photos.

   Marbury's coaches and teammates in the Beijing team attended the ceremony. "His career's prime time was spent here in Beijing," said Min Lulei, head coach of Beijing.

   "Hoping to see everyone that has a basketball dream to learn more from Marbury," Min commented.

   In jersey exhibition zone, six jerseys, including Timberwolves, Nets, Knicks and Beijing, are on display, where Marbury highlighted the meaning of the Beijing jersey to him.

   "That's in my heart. My Beijing jersey means more to me than any of them. I don't see that because of the championship, but just because I'm here at home and I've had a support system," said Marbury.

   "All those places that I've played at is a preparation for me to come to Beijing. For me, my Beijing jersey will be the jersey that I will retire here in China," he added.

   After recording a six-game winning streak, Marbury and the Beijing team will host Tongxi on Wednesday.

   The museum is scheduled to open to public next Monday.  Endi
