Guardiola to leave Bayern, Ancelotti to take helm

Josep Guardiola will fulfil his contract and leave Bayern after three years at the end of the season, the German record champions officially announced on Sunday.

Bayern Munich's CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge confirmed that Guardiola won't renew his contract, which will expire in June 2016. As a consequence, the Bundesliga leaders appointed Carlo Ancelotti for the next season. The 56-year-old Italian coach has put pen to paper on a three-year deal, commencing in the summer 2016.

"We are grateful for everything Pep Guardiola has given for our club since 2013. I am convinced that Pep and our team will now work more intensively for reaching our major goals, especially because now it is clear that Pep will leave Bayern," Rummenigge told the club's official homepage.

The former Barcelona coach joined the "Bavarians" in 2013 after signing a contract stipulated until June 2016. The 44-year-old Catalan lifted in his first season the German domestic double, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup. Under his guidance the "FCB" clinched the Bundesliga title (2014-2015) for a second time.

However, Guardiola still has the chance to win the UEFA Champions League, German Cup and Bundesliga in the current season.

Bayern reacted on Guardiola's departure in the summer as the German giants appointed another well-known coach with Carlo Ancelotti, who won the UEFA Champions League twice with A.C. Milan and once with Real Madrid. He is the only coach that reaped the Champions League trophy three times and reached the finals four times.

Ancelotti worked for a number of top flight clubs across Europe, such as, Juventus, Milan, Chelsea, Paris Saint German and Real Madrid.  Endi
