China qualifies for Olympic water polo tourney

China beat Japan for the second time in a two-team play-off for a berth at the Rio Olympics women's water polo tournament on Thursday.

The Chinese women, who won 14-8 in the first leg on Tuesday, overcame the rivals 9-6 to make it to the Olympics.

Chinese keeper Yang Jun was voted the Most Valuable Player of the playoff.

In the men's qualifying tournament here, Iran beat Saudi Arabia 18-9, Japan edged Kazakhstan 9-8. Endit
