4 Turkish soldiers wounded in IS attack in Northern Iraq

Four Turkish soldiers were slightly wounded Wednesday in an attack by Islamic State (IS) fighters against a Sunni military training camp in the Bashiqa region of northern Iraq, Turkish military said in a written statement.

Some Katyusha CNRA projectiles fell into the camp during the clashes between IS militants and Peshmerga forces, said the statement.

The Turkish forces responded to the IS militants with howitzers, the statement noted.

The Turkish soldiers' additional deployment in Bashiqa camp near Mosul city of in northern Iraq recently drew reaction from Baghdad as the Iraqi government stated the deployment was violation of the sovereignty of Iraq.

On Monday, Turkey withdrew some of its troops to another region that is under control of Iraqi Kurds as part of reorganization, but Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi's spokesman said it was not enough and asked Turkey to pull its forces out of Iraq. Endit
