3 Palestinians injured in Israeli tanks shelling on southern Gaza

Xinhua, December 17, 2015 Adjust font size:

Three Palestinian farmers were injured, one of them in critical condition in an Israeli tanks shelling on Wednesday evening near the border between southeast Gaza Strip and Israel, medics said.

A spokesman for the Hamas-run ministry of health in the Gaza Strip told reporters that Israeli army forces stationed at the border with southeast Gaza Strip, opened intensive gunfire and tanks shells on the farmers.

However, Israel Radio reported that the Israeli army forces opened intensive gunfire and fired tanks shells after unknown militants blew up a roadside bomb at the area close to the borderline between southeast Gaza Strip and Israel.

The radio said no injuries were reported after the bomb exploded and directly targeted the Israeli army vehicle that was patrolling the borderline area, adding that some damage was caused to the vehicle.

Earlier on Wednesday, a Palestinian young man was injured after he was shot by Israeli troops' gunfire near the border between southeast Gaza Strip and Israel, medics said.

The spokesman said that a 20-year-old goats shepherd was shot by Israeli troops' gunfire stationed at the border between southeast Gaza Strip and Israel.

"The young man was shot in his leg and his arm and he is in moderate condition," said al-Qedra, adding that a Palestinian ambulance tool the young man to the hospital in Khan Younis for medical treatment.

There was no immediate Israeli army response to the incident; however, the Israeli army forces which imposed a tight blockade on the Gaza Strip open fire at any Palestinian who approach a no-go zone on the border with Israel.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian health ministry in the West Bank said in an emailed press statement that an 18-year-old Palestinian from the West Bank city of Nablus died of her wounds she sustained from last month.

The statement said that Samah Abdol Mo'men, 18 years old, was critically wounded mid of November when Israeli soldiers opened fire at her at an Israeli army roadblock south of the city.

Two Palestinians were shot dead and four were injured very early on Wednesday by Israeli troops' gunfire in the West Bank refugee camp of Qaladia north of Jerusalem, when the Israeli army forces stormed the refugee camp.

Palestinian death toll climbed to 125 Palestinians since the outbreak of the current flaring wave of violent tension between Israel and the Palestinians in the Palestinian territories. Endit
