Vietnam, Cambodia promote legislative ties

Chairman of Vietnam National Assembly Nguyen Sinh Hung held talks with the visiting President of the Cambodian Senate Samdech Say Chhum here Wednesday to discuss ways to further promote comprehensive cooperation between the two legislative bodies.

During talks, the two sides agreed to increase all-level visit exchanges and support each other at parliamentary forums, saying they will step up their role in supervising the enactment of reached agreements, especially the progress of border demarcation and marker planting, and cooperation in economy, trade, investment, culture-education and national defense, reported Vietnam's state-run news agency VNA.

According to the Cambodian Senate President, as many as 83 percent of the workload of demarcation between the two countries has been completed. The outcome reflected concerted efforts made by the two countries' people in implementing a cooperation agreement on land border, determinedly building the borderline of peace, stability and development.

The Cambodian guest also expressed his hope that two-way trade between the two countries will reach five billion U.S. dollars in 2015.

The Cambodian Senate President is scheduled to stay in Vietnam through Thursday.

Vietnam and Cambodia established diplomatic ties in 1967. Enditem
