The aunt of a Syrian three-year-old boy Alan Kurdi, whose body was photographed on a Mediterranean beach, said she was busy preparing for the arrival of her relatives as refugees from the Middle East.
"It's very tiring. I'm very stressed out, but I'm going to make it happen," said Tima Kurdi, who lives in Port Coquitlam, a suburb city of Vancouver in west Canada. Her brother, Mohammad Kurdi, his wife and their five children, will arrived in Canada in the next two weeks.
Mohammad Kurdi is the uncle of Alan Kurdi who died alongside his mother and older brother when their boat flipped while crossing the waters between Turkey and Greece earlier this year. Alan's father, Abdullah, has chosen not to come to Canada to be with his sister and brother, staying instead in Kurdistan.
Tima Kurdi said the difficulty for her was to find rooms for seven new comers to her home, where her husband and their son already live, according to a report by Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) on Tuesday.
Kurdi hopes a GoFundMe page that a friend started for her family will help ease the financial burden to rearrange the life of her relatives in Canada.
"I know there is lots of generous people around, and that will be much appreciated," she told CBC.
Tima Kurdi said she was looking forward to reuniting with her family members, and do what she can to cope with the fact they couldn't all make the journey. Endit
