A deadly blaze at a psychiatric hospital in the Russian southwestern Voronezh region killed 23 patients and left dozens injured, the Russian Emergency situations Ministry said Sunday.

Over 70 people were inside the hospital when the fire broke out late Saturday night, and 51 of them were evacuated from the 700 square meters building. Among them, some 20 people with burns of various degree have been hospitalized, and the others currently stay at the other building of the hospital. (Russia-Hospital Fire-Toll)

BAGHDAD -- An air strike by U.S.-led coalition aircraft targeting a position of the terrorist Islamic State (IS) group in Iraq's western province of Anbar on Sunday killed 12 IS militants, a security source said.

The international warplanes bombarded a suspected car bomb making factory in the IS-held town of Heet, some 160 km west of the Iraqi capital of Baghdad, destroying the target and leaving at least 12 IS militants killed, the source told Xinhua, citing intelligence report. (Iraq-IS)

BANGUI -- Heavy fighting erupted Sunday in a Muslim district in the Central African Republic's capital during a referendum aimed at restoring stability, witnesses said.

Gunfire and explosions were heard around a school where voters were waiting to cast their votes, they said. (Central Africa-Fighting)

MOSCOW -- A Russian warship fired warning shots to avert a collision with a Turkish fishing boat in the Aegean Sea on Sunday, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

"The crew of the Russian frigate Smetlivy, located 22 kilometers from the Greek island of Lemnos in the northern part of the Aegean Sea, has used firearms to avert a collision with a Turkish fishing boat," the ministry said, adding that a military attache at the Turkish Embassy in Moscow has been summoned to the ministry. MOGADISHU -- At least 10 people were killed and more than 25 others, mostly civilians, injured after a fierce fighting broke out in Beledweyne town, the capital of Hiiraan region in central Somalia on Sunday, locals and medical officials said.

Residents said the fighting broke out between two heavily armed clan militias who were using machine guns and artillery weapons at Hawl-wadag neigbourhood in the center of the town. (Somalia-Attack) Endi
