Following reports of "precise" terrorist threats in Geneva, the city's state prosecutor announced Thursday that a penal procedure has been opened in view of acts preparatory to the commission of an offence.
This measure seeks to target individuals who, in accordance with a plan, carry out specific technical or organisational measures to commit serious crimes.
Police increased Geneva's security alert on Thursday as law enforcement personnel actively track down individuals thought to be linked to investigations related to the Paris terrorist attacks which saw 130 people die in a series of shootings and bombings on the night of Nov. 13.
According to Geneva's Security Department, police investigations are currently underway in collaboration with national and international security services to find the individuals in question.
Investigations will be led by Swiss attorney general Olivier Jornot and first attorney Yves Bertossa. Endite
