Jordan lawmakers laud Swedish efforts to solve Mideast crises

Xinhua, December 10, 2015 Adjust font size:

Jordanian lawmakers praised on Wednesday Sweden's role to settle Middle East crises, state-run Petra news agency reported.

Sweden plays an important role to end violence and restore calm and stability in the Middle East, especially in Palestine, MP Bassam Manasir, head of the Lower House's Foreign Affairs Committee, said at a meeting with a Swedish parliamentary delegation.

On the Syrian crisis, the committee members called for a comprehensive political solution that helps the Syrian refugees return to their country.

Jordan hosts more than 1.5 million refugees, they said, calling for increasing international aid to the kingdom.

The two sides also discussed ways to combat terrorism in the region and eliminate radical groups that tarnish the image of Islam.

The Swedish delegation voiced appreciation for Jordan's efforts to achieve Mideast peace.

They also called for supporting Jordan amid the high influx of Syrian refugees. Endit
