Iceland records average wage increase in Q3

Iceland saw an increase of the average wage in the third quarter 2015 by 3.5 percent compared with the previous quarter, according to figures issued by the Statistics Iceland on Wednesday.

The statistics showed the largest wage increase was in construction sector where wages increased by 5.2 percent from the previous quarter. While wages in financial intermediation increased the least, by 2 percent.

The annual change of the wage index ranged from 4.7 percent in financial intermediation to 9.4 percent in transport, storage and communication sector.

The average wage in the third quarter of 2015 increased by 7.9 percent in total when compared with the same period in 2014, including 8.3 percent in the private sector and 6.7 percent in the public sector.

The annual increase was 6 percent for central government employees and 7.4 percent for local government employees. Endit
