British FTSE 100 drops 1.42 pct on Tuesday

FTSE 100 Index, the British benchmark stock market gauge, Tuesday slid 1.42 percent, or 88.30 points, to 6,135.22 points.

Mining shares declined , dragging UK equities lower at close of trading.

There were only two gainers among the blue chips, J Sainsbury (1.24 percent) and BP (0.6 percent) on the trading day.

Anglo American led the top losers of the blue chips with a share price drop of 12.29 percent, followed by Rio Tinto (8.37 percent), Antofagasta (7.57 percent), Glencore (6.92 percent), BHP Billiton (5.54 percent), Randgold Resources (3.70 percent). Endit
