Uganda's top women's team Weatherhead on Tuesday left for Zambia for the 2015 Africa Hockey Cup of Club Champions event slated for Dec. 12-19 in the capital Lusaka.

The team will face off with defending champions Orange Hockey Club from Kenya, Yobe Queens of Nigeria, Revenue Authority Club of Ghana, Hippo Club from Zimbabwe and Egypt's Sharkia among others.

Aisha Kagere, the Weatherhead captain told Xinhua that although they are going to face tough teams in the competition they are up to the task.

"We are determined to get to the later stages of the tournament," she said.

Secretary General of the Uganda Hockey Association Jackie Namyalo told Xinhua that the men's team Wananchi pulled out of the tournament citing failure to raise the funds needed to make the trip. Egypt's Sharkia are the men's defending champions. Endit
