Uganda to host first Africa Zone III Swimming Championship

Uganda is scheduled to host the first African Swimming Confederation (CANA) Zone III Swimming Championship.

   The event will run from Dec. 11 to 12.

   "We have invited Zone III member nations like Burundi, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan and Tanzania," the Uganda Swimming Federation (USF) President, Don Rukare told Xinhua on Monday.

   He said they have also invited other nations from the Zone IV like Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia  and Zimbabwe.

   Each nation is expected to field a total of two swimmers in the 136 events that will be held over two days.

   Rebecca Ssengonzi who won two medals at the CANA Africa junior swimming championships is part of Team Uganda.  Endi
