A total of 35 bodies were found this week in the commercial town of Bama in Nigeria's northeastern state of Borno, a local official has said.
The bodies were decomposed when found in the ruins of houses, Ali Modu Gajji, chairman of Bama local district, told Xinhua.
The town, located some 60 km from the state capital Maiduguri, was previously held by Islamist group Boko Haram.
"We believe they were killed by Boko Haram while it seized the town till April when military forces liberated the place," the official said.
The bodies were later buried at a cemetery on the outskirts of the town on Wednesday, he added.
Boko Haram has killed some 13,000 people and kidnapped hundreds since its insurgency started in 2009. Endit
