Xinhua, November 25, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Icelandic government announced Wednesday a three-year action plan to sharpen Iceland's focus on climate change issues and promote the work in the fields in order to reduce net emissions.

According to the announcement on the Foreign Ministry's website, the action plan consists of 16 projects that aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, increase carbon sequestration from the atmosphere, support international efforts to fight against climate change issues and strengthen the government's ability to deal with more stringent obligations on climate change issues.

The plan emphasizes on the cooperation between the government and industries to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and encourage innovation and climate-friendly solutions.

This plan has come to coincide with the upcoming 2015 UN climate change conference, which will be held in Paris from Nov. 30 to Dec. 11.

The summit is expected to reach a global agreement to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. Endit
