Xinhua, November 25, 2015 Adjust font size:

An earthquake measuring 7.5 on the Richter scale jolted 173 kilometers northwest of Iberia, Peru, at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, local time, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, monitored at a depth of 602.34 km, was initially determined to be at 10.5846 degrees south latitude and 70.9656 degrees west longitude.

The temblor was felt in other parts of Peru and mildly in Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Argentina, according to local media reports.

No reports of damage were made within 30 minutes of the earthquake. It is believed the damage could be limited due to the depth of the earthquake's epicenter and the remote nature of the areas where the powerful quake hit. Endit
