Uganda on Tuesday beat Zanzibar 4-0 in a Group B match of the 2015 Council for East and Central African Football Associations (Cecafa) Senior Challenge Cup.

After losing 2-0 to defending champions Kenya on Sunday, Uganda's national team, Cranes responded positively with a better game approach and attacking football.

Skipper Farouk Miya netted a first half brace before Erisa Sekisambu and Ceaser Okuthi added more in the second half.

Miya gave the Cranes the lead after 10 minutes before he converted a penalty later after seven minutes. Zanzibar were reduced to nine men after goalkeeper Mwadini Ali Mwadini was sent off for a bad foul on Sekisambu early in the game. Yahya Mudathir also saw red after 73 minutes.

After recess the 13-time record winners of the regional tournament returned strongly and Sekisambu got his name on the score sheet after 48 minutes.

Coach Milutin Sredojevic brought the fresh legs of Nelson Senkatuka and Frank Kalanda for Muzamir Mutyaba and Miya.

Striker Okuthi later increased Uganda's lead with a hard shot that burst the net after 79 minutes.

"I am happy that my boys have played better today and picked a big win," said Sredojevic after the game.

The win sees Uganda move top of Group B before they face Burundi in the last group game on Saturday.

Uganda's Miya now leads the scorers chart in the tournament with two goals together with Tanzania's duo of John Bocco and Elias Maguli. Endit
