Zenit finish top of Champions League Group H after home win

Xinhua, November 25, 2015 Adjust font size:

Defending Russian Premier League champions Zenit St. Petersburg have continued their stellar UEFA Champions League form with a 2-0 home win over Spanish club Valencia Tuesday evening.

Goals from local stars Oleg Shatov and Artyom Dzyuba gave Zenit their fifth straight Champions League win, and ensured the Russian club the top place of Group H ahead of Valencia, Belgian champions Gent and French side Lyon.

Lyon and Gent clash later Tuesday evening at the Stade de Gerland in Lyon in a must-win encounter for the home side, who have secured only one point from their first four group matches.

A win for Gent (4 points) will give them a one-point advantage over Valencia (6) going into the final round of group matches, where Valencia meet Lyon and Gent host the all-conquering Zenit.

The top two teams from each Champions League group qualify for the knockout stages of the tournament. End it
