Afghan government's Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah has expressed concern over the activities of a newly emerged terrorist group the Hizbul Tahrir and called for checking its activities in the militancy-plagued country.

"One of the important cases that has been overlooked by the government is the activities of Hizbul Tahrir, a branch of terror networks in Afghanistan," Abdullah said while presiding over the meeting of Ministers Council on Monday, according to a statement released by the Office of Chief Executive.

Rahmatullah Nabil, the chief of National Directorate for Security (NDS) or the country's spy agency, briefed the Council of Ministers about the history of Hizbul Tahrir and its activities in Afghanistan and it was decided in the meeting that the activities of the outfit should be checked.

Several hardliners groups, prominent among them being the Taliban, Daesh and the Hekmatyar faction of the radical Hizb-e-Islami, have been operating in Afghanistan and fighting the government to regain power. Enditem
