The Jordan Football Association President, Prince Ali bin al-Hussein has called for the world football governing body (FIFA) to set term limits for the presidents.
Prince Ali told Xinhua in an interview Monday at the ongoing Council for East and Central African Football Associations (Cecafa) that there is a need to have term limits instead of having presidents serve several terms.
Prince Ali is campaigning to become FIFA president. He is at the tournament to lobby for support from the Cecafa member countries.
Already five candidates have been cleared to contest for FIFA presidency when the elections take place on February 26, 2016 at the headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland.
The election is to find a successor to the suspended Sepp Blatter, who is under criminal investigation.
The other candidates apart from Ali include Jerome Champagne, Gianni Infantino (Italy), Sheikh Salman bin Ebrarim al-Khalifa (Bahrain) and South Africa's mining tycoon Tokyo Sexwale.
Prince Ali who lost to embattled Blatter few months ago said because of the bad image that the world football governing body is facing now it needs a new beginning with fresh ideas.
"We need good governance in FIFA with lots of openness to all members," said the former FIFA Vice president.
President of the Confederation of African Football and FIFA vice president Issa Hayatou is now acting as head of FIFA while Blatter is suspended. Endi
