Brazilian champions Corinthians crush Sao Paulo 6-1

Xinhua, November 23, 2015 Adjust font size:

Angel Romero struck twice as newly crowed Brazilian Serie A champions Corinthians crushed Sao Paulo 6-1 on Sunday.

Bruno Henrique, Edu Dracena, Lucca and Cristian were also on the scoresheet at Arena Corinthians as the hosts moved 14 points clear at the top of the standings with two matches remaining.

Carlinhos netted Sao Paulo's only goal in the 70th minute.

The result came less than three days after Corinthians secured their sixth top-flight title following a 1-1 draw with Vasco da Gama.

Despite Sunday's loss, Sao Paulo remained in fourth position, above Internacional on goal difference.

Meanwhile in Rio de Janeiro, four-time champions Fluminense guaranteed their place in Brazil's top division next year with a 3-1 victory over Avai.

Former Brazil striker Fred scored just his ninth goal of the campaign while Osvaldo and Gum were also on target for the hosts. Endi
