A series of police operations in the Brussels regions has finished, Belgian public radio La Premiere reported on Sunday night, with the federal prosecutor expected to give a press conference at midnight.

La Premiere said police raids occurred in central Brussels and the nearby districts of Molenbeek, Schaerbeek and Ixelles. The broadcaster said several arrests had been made. (Belgium-Arrests)

SKOPJE -- Tensions rise on Sunday at the border between Macedonia and Greece where more than 1,000 migrants from countries in the Middle East, Asia and Africa remain stranded at no-man's land, local media reported.

For the past several days, Macedonian security forces allow entrance on Macedonian territory only to refugees from countries where there is an immediate security risk, including those from Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan.

KIEV -- Ukraine's maintenance crews stand ready to restore electricity supplies to Crimea within four days if they are granted access to the site where the damaged power lines are located, a country's senior energy official said here Sunday.

"It will take about 24 hours to repair one of the less-affected power lines and from two to four days to restore three other lines," Yuri Kasich, a deputy head of Ukrainian state-run energy company Ukrenergo, told a media briefing. (Ukraine-Crimea-Electricity Supply)

CAIRO -- Amid high security measures and modest participation, ballots of Egypt's second phase of parliamentary elections closed Sunday at 9:00 p.m. (1900 GMT) local time.

DAMASCUS -- The Syrian Democratic Force (SDF), a new Western-backed rebel alliance, continued its progress against the Islamic State (IS) group in Syria's al-Hasakah province near the Iraqi borders on Sunday, a monitor group reported.

The SDF captured the Mailabiyeh military base, which was taken by IS in July 2014 following battles with the Syrian army, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. (Syria-IS) Endi
