Pakistani parliament observes one-minute silence for Paris attacks victims

Xinhua, November 20, 2015 Adjust font size:

Pakistani parliament on Friday observed one-minute silence in memory of innocent people killed in the Paris attacks.

The members of the National Assembly, or Lower House of the parliament, from the treasury and the opposition benches showed unity to condemn the Paris attacks that had killed over 130 people. The lawmakers also condemned recent attacks in Lebanon.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday reiterated his condemnation of terrorists' attacks in Paris at a meeting with the French ambassador in Islamabad.

"Terrorists are the enemies of humanity and must be rooted out from Pakistan, France and the world," a statement from the PM office quoted Sharif as telling Ambassador Martine Dorance.

"Those responsible for Paris tragedy are enemies of Islam. We understand the pain of French nation," Sharif said.

The French ambassador said that the French people are thankful to Pakistani government and the nation for their support and sympathy.

"We are touched by the response of common people," she said. Enditem
