China constructs vocational center in Liberia

Xinhua, November 20, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Chinese government on Thursday handed over a new Monrovia Vocational Training Center (MVTC) buildings to the government of Liberia.

The buildings, which contain classrooms, laboratory and administration facilities as well as two dormitory buildings for faculty and students and a library that can accommodate 300 people with energy and water supply systems, are part of China's contribution toward the rebuilding of Liberia.

Speaking at the dedication ceremony of the China- aided MVTC expansion project, Chinese Ambassador to Liberia Zhang Yue said an estimated 9 million U.S. dollars was spent by Chinese government to construct the new buildings.

The Chinese Ambassador indicated that the building has special facilities for catering to the needs of disabled people and a sewage disposal system for environmental protection.

He observed that China and Liberia have a lot in common, as developing countries face similar development challenges, and hoped the two countries will prioritize development and be dedicated to mutual beneficial cooperation.

Zhang disclosed that as Liberia has started a Post-Ebola Economic Stabilization and Recovery Plan, China has drawn the development blueprint for the coming five years to promote international industry capacity cooperation, and hoped Liberia and China can explore fruitful cooperation in the future.

"As the hope of the nation, the young Liberians shoulder the responsibility to build this beautiful country. I wish you can take this precious opportunity of getting access to modern training facilities in the new MVTC and devote yourselves to the development of Liberia," he added.

The envoy told his audience that the MVTC project cannot be a success without the two countries making relentless joint efforts to ensure its completion at the earliest possible time. Endit
