Spanish treasury places 3.507 bln euros on market

The Spanish treasury on Thursday placed treasury bonds worth 3.507 billion euros (3.763 billion U.S. dollars) on the market registering a demand close to 11 billion euros.

A total of 1.275 billion euros worth of three-year bonds carrying an average interest rate of 0.124 percent was sold, which was below the 0.263 percent of the previous issue.

The placement also included 1.282 billion euros of bonds that will mature in 2023. They fetched an average interest rate of 1.184 percent, which was below the 1.918 percent of the previous issue.

Finally, the treasury also placed 950 million euros worth of five-year bonds that carried an average interest rate of 0.556 percent, below the 0.875 percent of the previous auction.

So far, the Spanish treasury placed around 133 billion euros of medium and long term debt on the market, which represented 95.7 percent of the country's financial goals for the year. (1 euro = 1.07 U.S. dollars) Endit
