Five Tianjin officials investigated for graft

Five officials from Tianjin Municipality have been investigated on suspicion of corruption, the Supreme People's Procuratorate said on Thursday.

The Tianjin municipal procuratorate has completed investigation into the cases of Zhang Jiaxing, former member of the Tianjin Municipal People's Congress Standing Committee, Liu Disheng, former Party chief of Tianjin Material and Equipment Group Corporation, and Jiang Ying, former deputy director of the Tianjin Bureau of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises.

They are suspected of accepting bribes, and their cases have been transferred to prosecutors.

The Tianjin municipal procuratorate also decided to investigate Bai Wenyuan, former deputy director of Tianjin Bureau of Culture, Radio and Television, on suspicion of embezzlement, and Jia Fengming, former deputy director of the Standing Committee of Tianjin's Hebei District People's Congress, on suspicion of taking bribes.

Bai and Jia have been placed under "coercive measures," which include summons by force, bail, residential surveillance, detention and arrest. Endi
