Singapore stocks close 1.17 pct higher

Singapore stocks finished higher on Thursday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 33.75 points, or 1.17 percent, to close at 2,919.83.

A total of 1.0 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 775.8 million Singapore dollars (550.2 million U.S. dollars).

Gainers outnumbered decliners 255 to 135, while 543 others finished unchanged.

The STI index gained 1.05 points, or 0.04 percent, to close at 2,916.78 on Wednesday. Enditem
