The Editor-in-Chief of China's Xinhua News Agency, He Ping, met Tuesday with Jesus Zambrano, president of the Mexican Chamber of Deputies, to discuss legislative issues and cooperation.
During their meeting, He explained to Zambrano the role of China's National People's Congress and the goals of the country's 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020).
The five-year plan will outline development priorities for China, and create great opportunities for Latin America and the rest of the world, he said.
In the next five years, China will seek to achieve 6.5-7.5 percent economic growth annually, transform the economic growth model, promote innovation, accelerate agricultural modernization and carry out structural changes, he said.
For his part, Zambrano introduced the work of the Chamber of Deputies, where "each point of view is debated in a constructive manner and agreements are sought for the benefit of the nation."
Zambrano and He also reviewed the increasingly close relationship between Mexico and China, as exemplified by President Enrique Pena Nieto and President Xi Jinping's meeting on Monday during the G-20 Summit in Turkey.
"China and Mexico are working to develop a comprehensive strategic partnership, which will undoubtedly benefit both countries," said He, the editor-in-chief, adding that the bilateral ties "were not limited to commercial issues, but also covered political and cultural matters as well." Endi
