1st LD-Writethru: Chinese shares close lower on Tuesday

Xinhua, November 17, 2015 Adjust font size:

China's stocks closed lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.06 percent to close at 3,604.80 points.

The smaller Shenzhen index lost 0.86 percent to close at 12,511.55 points.

Total turnover on the two bourses expanded to 1.27 trillion yuan (199.63 billion U.S. dollars) from 908.7 billion yuan the previous trading day.

Stocks related to electric car charging stations were among the biggest losers. Shenzhen Auto Electric Power Plant Co., lost 6.81 percent to end the day at 47.11 yuan per share, and Shanghai Liangxin Electrical Co., also shed 6.05 percent to close at 64.50 yuan.

Bucking the trend, shares in securities, eco-agriculture and aviation posted the biggest gains, with more than 50 shares surging by the daily limit of 10 percent.

A decision earlier this month by the China Securities Regulatory Commission to resume IPOs, which will see 28 go public before the end of the year after being halted in July, has bolstered sentiment on securities firms, according to Haitong Securities.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, ended Tuesday down 2.86 percent to close at 2,717.05 points. Endi
