Norway strengthens preparedness following terrorist attacks in Paris

Norway's police intelligence agency PST said on Saturday it has strengthened security preparedness following the overnight terrorist attacks in Paris which have left more than 120 people dead.

"PST has strengthened preparedness and followed developments in Paris carefully. We review the events may have implications for the threat level in Norway. So far there is no information that indicates that there are connections to Norway," the agency said in a statement.

Norway's Minister of Justice and Public Security Anders Anundsen confirmed to public broadcaster NRK that PST has not found anything that can link the terrorist attacks in Paris or perpetrators to Norway and it has worked feverishly to prevent similar attacks in the Nordic country.

"We have worked with threat assessments for a long time. We have seen that even in Norway there is an increased risk of attacks. But there is nothing to suggest that we would get such an attack in Norway now," Anundsen said.

"The Norwegian authorities are doing everything they can to keep our citizens safe, though one can never issued any kind of warranty," he added.

A series of terror attacks in different locations in and around Paris killed at least 120 people and wounded some 200 others, the deadliest violence in France since World War II. Endit
