China's Xinhua, Argentinean Secretariat of Public Communications agree to deepen cooperation

Xinhua, November 14, 2015 Adjust font size:

China's Xinhua News Agency and Argentina's Secretariat of Public Communications agreed to deepen bilateral cooperation links as part of comprehensive strategic partnership between the two sides.

He Ping, Xinhua's Editor-in-Chief, was received on Thursday by Alfredo Scoccimarro, Argentina's Secretary of Public Communications. The two discussed challenges faced by media at bilateral, regional and international levels.

During the meeting held in Casa Rosada, the seat of the Argentinean government, He said this was "a step to deepen and develop the friendship between the peoples and governments of Argentina and China."

He added that "the spaces for bilateral cooperation are growing ever larger, not only for commercial and economic matters, but also for cultural and communications matters as well".

During the meeting, Scoccimarro was accompanied by Fabian Rodriguez, president of the country's news agency, Telam, and Yann Dasso, the agency's director general.

"Our president (Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner) has always told us to seek out the vision of other countries, which shows the importance or our links with China," said the secretary.

Scoccimarro also explained how the visits by Kirchner to China in February and by Chinese President Xi Jinping to Argentina in July 2014 had made possible the sharing of content between Telam and Xinhua.

Xinhua News Agency is China's official news agency founded in 1931. With over 10,000 correspondents and staff around the world, it publishes over 4,500 articles a day in Chinese, English, Spanish, French, Arabic, Russian, Portuguese and Japanese.
