China publicizes over 65,000 major cases

Xinhua, November 13, 2015 Adjust font size:

China's procuratorates at all levels have publicized information of 65,695 major cases since an online platform was set up for the purpose in October 2014.

Information about 2,046,552 cases and 505,094 legal documents has also been made public, said Xiao Wei, spokesperson of the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) at a press conference on Friday.

The openness of case information has encouraged public supervision and transparency of procuratorial power, Xiao said.

According to a guideline issued in January 2015, case information, except that about state and business secrets, personal privacy and crimes committed by minors, should be publicized.

The SPP also released a regulation and documents to improve whistle-blowing rules, public review, and the publicizing of administrative information.

The spokesperson said that the SPP will make more efforts to increase the credibility of procuratorates. Endi
