Chinese pop star arrested for drugs, again

Xinhua, November 13, 2015 Adjust font size:

Popular Chinese pop singer Yin Xiangjie was arrested in a drugs bust on Thursday night, months after serving a prison sentence for drugs offenses.

Yin, 46, was arrested in a residential community in Beijing's Chaoyang District at around 7 p.m., local police said on Friday. Drugs and needles were seized.

Yin confessed to drug possession and use. His urine also tested positive for drugs, according to the police.

In China, possession of more than 10 grams of illegal drugs can result in up to three years in prison and fines.

A Beijing native, Yin became famous after his song "Boat Tracker's Love" was a hit in 1993. He was arrested for drug offenses in 2014, and given a seven-month prison term with a fine of 2,000 yuan (about 333 U.S. dollars) in February. Endi
