NBDL, Herzegovina teams to play international tournament in China

Xinhua, November 11, 2015 Adjust font size:

An NBA Development League All-Star team has confirmed to play an international basketball tournament next month in central China's Anhui Province, organizers announced here on Wednesday.

The tournament, slated for Dec. 11-13, will also feature Africa's All-Star team, Herzegovina's national side and Anhui Wenyi, the runners-up of China's second-tier league NBL. The four teams will play round-robin matches.

Also on Wednesday, former Chinese international Hu Weidong was presented as the new head coach of Anhui Wenyi. The invitational tournament will be his first test.

"My goal is always to win the title," the 45-year-old Hu, who was dubbed as China's Michael Jordan, told a press conference.

Hu was twice named the Most Valuable Player of CBA, China's top-flight basketball league, before he retired in 2005. He also won the CBA scoring champion award three times. Endi
