Indonesia congratulates Myanmar on success of election

Xinhua, November 11, 2015 Adjust font size:

Indonesian government on Wednesday conveyed its congratulation to the government and people of Myanmar on successful election held peacefully on Sunday, expecting all parties taking part in the election process to respect the results.

"Indonesian government expects results of the election would open a new page for the people of Myanmar in their efforts to continue the reform, reconciliation, development process and keep preserving their spirit of togetherness," a statement released by the Indonesian Foreign Affairs ministry said here on Wednesday.

Results of the election reflect the option taken by Myanmar people, the statement said.

Myanmar's Union Election Commission (UEC) has announced 394 elected parliament representatives to three levels of the parliament as a combined result of Sunday's general election as of Wednesday morning, with opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi re-elected as representative to the House of Representatives (Lower House) of the next parliament.
