Nigeria arrests second wanted Boko Haram suspect

Xinhua, November 10, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Nigerian army says it has arrested a second person on its list of 100 most-wanted Boko Haram suspects.

The suspect, Ishaku Wardifen, was on Monday nabbed at a military checkpoint in the remote town of Maliha in the northeastern state of Adamawa, an army statement said.

"Visual matching with photographs on the poster of the 100 declared suspected Boko Haram terrorists wanted list shows that he clearly resembles the suspect on serial number 22 on the list," it added.

Preliminary investigation indicated the suspect is a Cameroonian national, according to the statement.

The army released the wanted list three weeks ago.

Chindo Bello, who is on the list, was on Sunday captured at Nnamdi Azikwe Airport in the capital Abuja while attempting to board a domestic flight to Lagos state.

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has given a December deadline for the army to end the six-year Boko Haram insurgency.

Boko Haram, fighting to establish an Islamic state in Nigeria, has killed some 13,000 people and kidnapped hundreds. Endit
