European Union (EU) home affairs ministers on Monday agreed to intensify efforts to increase reception capacities for refugees in light of the approaching winter at a meeting.

During the meeting they were debriefed on the latest information on migratory flows and the situation on the ground, and had a discussion on progress in implementing the EU measures. (EU-Refugee)

WARSAW -- Poland and the United States on Monday signed a declaration on military cooperation, during an official visit here of U.S. Army Commanding Lieutenant General Ben Hodges who was hosted by Polish Armed Forces Branches General Commaner Miroslaw Rozanski.

During the meeting, both sides signed a declaration on bilateral cooperation and intention letter on military partnership, which both mark a step forward in Polish-U.S. military cooperation. (Poland-U.S.-Military)

MEXICO CITY -- Ten people were killed in a shooting attack at a cockfight in Mexico's southern state of Guerrero, officials said Monday.

The incident took place late Sunday in the town of Cuajinicuilapa, in the state's Costa Chica region.

A group of armed assailants burst into the cockfight around 9 p.m. local time and began shooting at the crowd, the state Secretariat of Public Security said. (Mexico-Killings)

PARIS -- French fighter jets destroyed an oil supply centre controlled by the Islamic State (IS) group in Deir ez-Zor, southeast Syria, the defense ministry announced on Monday.

In coordination with the United States-led coalition, France's two Mirage 2000 fighter jets hit an IS oil facility during a two-hour mission, the ministry said in a statement posted on its website. (France-IS) Endi
