Argentina's Nueva Chicago relegated

Xinhua, November 10, 2015 Adjust font size:

Buenos Aires soccer team Nueva Chicago were relegated to the South American country's second division on Monday despite their 2-1 home victory over Quilmes.

In the 30th and final match of the season, the team from the Mataderos neighborhood in western Buenos Aires needed to win and they also needed their two opponents Huracan and Temperley to lose in their matches to stand a chance of staying in the first division.

However, Huracan drew 1-1 with Belgrano and Temperley ended with a goal-less draw against Argentinos.

Due to this, Nueva Chicago will return to playing in the second division (Primera B Nacional) just one year after they were promoted. Crucero del Norte from the province of Misiones also join Nueva Chicago in relegation to the lower division.  Endi
