Spain's car sales rise by 5.2 pct in Oct

Spain's car sales rose by 5.2 percent in October when compared with a year earlier to a total of 80,055 purchases, according to data released on Monday by the main associations of the sector.
The Association of Car Manufacturers (ANFAC), the Federation of Association of Dealers of the Automotive sector (FACONAUTO) and the Association of Car Dealers (GANVAM) said, "this is the best October since 2009," highlighting that car sales had been rising for 26 consecutive months.
From January to October, car sales rose by 20.5 percent when compared with the same period of a year earlier to a total of 863,973 units. The associations said that taking into account this figure and increasing consumer confidence, "this year the market will surpass one million purchases."
According to the associations, firms bought 25,544 cars in October, which meant a 16.6-percent rise when compared with a year earlier, while in the first 10 months of the year, purchases rose by 32.7 percent to a total of 234,354 units.
Meanwhile, individuals bought 50,177 cars in October, which meant a 0.7-percent fall when compared with a year earlier, while in the first ten months of the year this figure rose by 18.3 percent to a total of 465,250 purchases. Endit
