TOKYO -- Japan's consumer prices fell 0.1 percent in September from a year earlier, marking the second consecutive month of decline, the government said Friday.

The core consumer price index, which excludes volatile fresh food prices, stood at 103.4 against the 2010 base of 100, according to the data of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.

CANBERRA -- The "Belt and Road" initiative is being offered up by China as a vision for a more prosperous region with connectivity and interdependence, an Australian economist said.

WELLINGTON -- One of the most advanced pilotless aircraft in the United States Air Force will make an appearance in New Zealand for the first time during an ongoing multinational military exercise, the New Zealand Defense Force announced Friday.
