Tatra summit in Slovakia to discuss energy union, migration

Xinhua, October 27, 2015 Adjust font size:

An energy union, innovation, investment opportunities, as well as the ongoing migration crisis will be the main topics of the fourth international Tatra Summit in Bratislava from Nov. 4 to 6, organizers said Monday.

"Europe is facing multiple crises on various fronts, be it the migration crisis, the economic crisis, or the security crisis. We can't avoid questions such as the British referendum on leaving the EU set for 2017. All these questions will have a great impact on the future of European integration," Central European Strategy Council CEO Robert Vass said at a press conference.

The conference is being held under the auspices of several Slovak ministries, including Foreign and European Affairs, Economy and Finance.

According to Economy Minister Vazil Hudak, his ministry will focus on energy, innovations and investments.

Maros Sefcovic, European Commission vice-president, will also attend the conference to talk about the Energy Union, the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline and energy efficiency.

The Tatra Summit is organized by the Centre for European Affairs and is an economic version of the Globsec security conference.

Also on the agenda is Slovakia's presidency of the Council of the European Union, which is scheduled for the latter half of 2016. Endit
