Dortmund and defender Sokratis agree on contract extension

The "BVB" extended the contract of Greece international Sokratis until 2019, the Bundesliga runner up confirmed via the club' s official homepage on Monday.

Borussia Dortmund and Greece international Sokratis agreed on a further collaboration ahead of schedule, as the defender inked a contract extension until June 2019.

"We are very pleased that we have been able to sign with Sokratis another top performer on a long term," Dortmund' s sporting director Michael Zorc said.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos joined the eight-time German champions in the summer 2013 to mark two goals in 57 appearances.

"The city, the BVB and the people here have become for me and my family a second home. I' m very happy that I still can wear the black and yellow jersey for a long time," the 27-year-old defender said.
